Top of the Pops have changed their logo over the years to fit in with current fashions.
Billboard have also changed their masthead, they have changed so much as the font like Top Of the Tops but they changed from black to white, and now they have it bold and black with no extra colour, down the side of the magazine not the top.

Most of these magazines are based around the colours used being bright and eye catching. The colours mainly used are primary colours - red (pinks), blue and yellow. Also having many cover lines and one main image.

For top of the pops and we love pop the target audience is females and teenagers aged 13-15 and then primary school. This is because of the very bright eye catching colours, the busyness of the cover, also the facial expressions of the subjects look like they’re having a lot of fun.
Billboard magazine is aimed at females and males. And targeted at an older audience, such as older teenagers from 16 and then young adults up to around 25. this is due to the subject chosen - Beyonce is a powerful successful women and her facial expressions are a lot more serious and the colours are not so bright and in your face. Also the entire layout of Billboard magazine is more simplistic and sophisticated which is why this appeals to an older audience.

Entertain and identify are the uses and gratifications used in these magazines. The magazine is trying to entertain you, its main purpose is not to educate and therefore they are trying to entertain the audience, especially as it’s a younger target audience. Identify is the subject on the covers being the receivers role models. Utopian solutions creates abundance on the magazines aimed at kids 'we love pop' and 'Top of the pops' because of the very busy covers. It could also create a sense of community because a group of people who all enjoy reading and talking about the same magazine. Maslow's Hierarchy of needs can be used through these magazines in the esteem section creating respect of others by reading all the stories in these magazines about certain pop artists. As well as the self-actualisation section giving the receiver an acceptance of facts.

Pop magazines use very popular subjects that are very versatile which other music magazines choose to use as their subjects such as Rolling Stones and NME who do not specialise in pop music. As pop music is very popular and in the media elsewhere a lot, there is no need for them to team up with other genres of music unless they are in the charts I would think this is the only time they would team up in genres.

As the target audience are quite young majority of them will have some form of social media as well as the main stream celebrities do in this way they can all connect with the magazines.
